Offshore Steward

Offshore Stewards fulfil a key role in the efficient and smooth running of an offshore installation. They provide a range of services covering laundry, accommodation, cleaning and catering services based offshore on a platform, drilling rig or vessel.

About this role

Typical duties

  • Maintains housekeeping standards in accommodation areas
  • Cleans individual accommodation cabins on a regular basis including changing of towels and bedding
  • Assists with the preparation and serving of meals
  • Ensures that all communal areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Assists with the unloading and storage of supplies
  • Reports and maintenance requirements within the accommodation areas
  • Reports any breaches of safety procedures to supervision / management
  • Actively participates in and promotes company health and safety campaigns, policies and procedures, and ensures personal safety and that of colleagues at all times

In the industry

This role is vital to ensure that the accommodation and living areas on the platform or vessel are clean, tidy and functional at all times. Offshore Stewards are employed by specialist catering and facilities management companies that supply catering services to the oil and gas industry. The role will involve shift work, which may have early starts and late finishes.

Requirements

Entry requirements:

  • Basic offshore induction and emergency training (BOSIET)
  • Offshore Medical Certificate OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Standards (MIST)
