My original plan was to study A-Levels before eventually going on to university to complete a degree. Instead of this I decided to follow the apprenticeship route, and believe this has been a better option for me, earning whilst gaining valuable work experience.
Working for Fabricom Offshore Services has given me a great opportunity to progress and the chance to complete various qualifications and training. The attention given to apprentices and trainees within the company is unique and the field of work we are in always provides new opportunities and job roles.
On a day to day basis my work involves, research, completing pipe supports, completing P&IDs along with various admin tasks regarding pipe specifications.
At Fabricom, the working atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and it’s been great gaining oil and gas industry knowledge and experience from my colleagues. The work is really interesting and I’ve enjoyed developing my drawing skills.
For me, the apprenticeship as a whole is what I expected however, prior to getting the apprenticeship I was not aware of the qualifications you can achieve through these programmes.
