I chose to take the apprenticeship route as I wanted to do a course that offered practical experience as well as classroom based learning.

Working for Fabricom Offshore Services has been a really good place to learn and has offered me lots of development opportunities. On a day to day basis I create new drawings, new revisions for drawings and issue drawings via ProArc. Training is always offered by my mentor or from someone more experienced in my department.

Working in the Oil and Gas industry is very rewarding, I enjoy contributing to a ‘real-life’ project in a professional environment.

By week 3 of my apprenticeship I was making modifications to documents and being shown how to issue them to clients. Being able to be involved in projects at such an early stage really gave me confidence. I feel that I am gaining a much greater understanding of the industry and believe that I can be a real asset to the company.
